Even though Torker built the first Haro Freestylers they got into building their own Freestyle frame a little late.  With the new Pro-X race frames in 1983 and building a new Torker Team, Steve Johnson signed on Martin Aparijo to lead the Freestyle product line.

The Torker Freestylist featured...

  • 5" head tube and with the added space a beefy support tube made the front end really durable for Freestyle abuse.
  • Torker's double top tube design for built in platform and trick design
  • Torker fork is the same style as the racing but with a welded on platform
  • Rear rounded platforms welded on
  • Built-in brake arm bracket but this is the only frame I have seen without it
  • Only came in White

Martin was featured in BMX Plus for a Cherry Picker how-to which had him riding a Freestyllst.  There wasn't a typical Torker ad campaign in the magazines and/or a product review as by November 1984 Torker filed for bankruptcy.  With less than a year of production and no promotions of the Freestylist these frame and forks are few and far between.  Martin created Torker prototype handlebars which became the GT performer bars when he signed with GT.
