Right after the frame and
forks were being completed by Torker Bob set out to promote
Freestyle by performing many of his tricks on the new Freestyler.
This book covers:
- Preparing for battle
- Bike prep
- Ramp building
- Beginner,
Intermediate, and Advanced moves
- Bailing: Eating tips
The tricks look basic today
but back 25 years ago this was all new. Bob needed a bike
to withstand all the abuse Freestyle did to a race bike so with
a modified Torker we have the first true Freestyle bike.
The double top tube design allowed for many tricks, the steeper
head tube angle for better control, coaster brake arm bracket,
gussets, thicker tubing, and awesome design/graphics!
When I got my Freestylers
in '82 I couldn't wait to build up the bikes. Compared to my
Torker it was a huge difference and why this frame and fork was
so successful. I retired them in 1985 when I got the new Master
frame and fork.
Years later it's been so fun to
resurrect my two Freestylers to share with everyone the history
of the Freestyler...from Bob's Torker, this bike, and then his
'83 version with Vector bars.
Enjoy!!!
